My Path to Financial Coaching
How healthcare, education, and personal growth shaped my approach.
My own background blends adult education, a passion for personal finance, and a career in healthcare. I spent eight years as an emergency department nurse, where education was a core part of my role, helping patients understand their care and navigate complex medical decisions. Currently, I serve as a quality improvement project manager in healthcare, a role that continues to involve significant coaching and teaching. Beyond leading projects and coordinating teams, I train hospital staff to conduct quality improvement initiatives independently. This means I can’t simply do the work for them; I must equip them with foundational skills, support their development, and foster their confidence and autonomy.

Over time, I’ve also become what you might call a personal finance enthusiast and plan to obtain an AFC® certification. Like many people, I’ve faced financial challenges and learned valuable lessons through experience. I’m passionate about sharing what I’ve learned to help others navigate their own journeys toward financial wellness. While I don’t claim to have all the answers, I’ve developed and used several effective strategies, both for myself and for others I’ve advised, that have led to real, positive outcomes.

As a nurse, I developed strong skills in active listening, guiding people through tough situations, and educating without overstepping professional boundaries. These same skills now inform my approach as a financial coach. Whether through my professional work or personal mission, I’ve always had a deep desire to help others—and financial coaching is another meaningful way for me to do just that.
